CED Richmond

Consolidated Electrical Distributors (CED) is a network of over 600 independently operating electrical distributors across the nation. Since 1957, they have been providing wholesale electrical products for industrial, commercial, and residential applications. CED Richmond, located in Richmond,VA, was recently looking to stock more items in their warehouse. Unfortunately, their warehouse floor space was already maxed out with shelving.

CED Richmond reached out to The Mezzanine Company to help provide a solution.

In order to fully maximize their space, because this was an existing active warehouse, we would need to design and install around the existing shelving and pick operations below.

The Mezzanine Company worked closely with CED Richmond to come up with a design for a storage platform mezzanine that would serve their needs. We proposed an approximately 2,450 square foot platform. The mezzanine included (1) straight run OSHA staircases, with a mid-landing, for employee access.

In order to clear the existing shelving, the mezzanine was custom designed with a 13’ clear height. Additionally, the column placement was designed to work around the shelving below.

For the flooring, we provided ResinDek flooring with a Gray DiamondSeal finish. Lastly, we also provided a 6’ sliding gate to enable the easy moving of materials on and off the platform.

Once the proposal was accepted, approval drawings were created and our project manager made a site visit to make the final design adjustments.

When the mezzanine was out of production, we arranged for a prompt delivery the week of the install. The mezzanine was installed by our local installation team, as planned, and on time, with minimum interruption to operations.
