Yuasa Battery

Located in Reading, PA, Yuasa Battery is a manufacturer and distributer of powersport batteries. Recently, they were looking to regain some of the floor space in their warehouse. They decided to make use of the available air space, in their facility, by moving 6 rectifiers on top of a mezzanine platform.

Yuasa Battery reached out to The Mezzanine Company to help provide a solution.

In addition to needing a custom solution that would provide the maximum amount of platform capacity and clear floor space, the team at Yuasa Battery also needed a quick turnaround in order to meet a hard date that they had for finishing the project.

Working closely with Yuasa Battery, we provided a design for a custom mezzanine platform.  The platform capacity and framing layout was specifically designed for the 5,000 lb. rectifiers and their placement on the platform.

The design also provided a 3’ walking aisle and 4’ walking aisle in front of the rectifiers. The aisles would enable them to replace a rectifier, when needed, without having to move any of the others. To help maximize the space on top of the platform, the platform was cantilevered into the room.

For the flooring, we provided heavy duty closed steel planking. Lastly, we also provided an oversize 8’ sliding gate to enable the easy moving of materials on and off the platform.

Once the proposal was accepted, we worked with the manufacturer and Yuasa to finalize the design quickly and get a production slot from the factory that would help meet their deadline. After careful planning and efficient communication between all parties, the mezzanine was delivered and installed. The new mezzanine provided Yuasa Battery with the space they needed to store their rectifiers.
