Since 1984, Sterling Helicopter has been providing their customers with quality service at their FAA approved repair station which is capable and authorized to perform the highest quality maintenance needed. Sterling has built an excellent reputation offering professional helicopter services locally, nationally, and internationally meeting the needs of municipalities, corporate executives, and transient travelers alike.
Recently, they were looking to gain additional storage space in one of their hangers that serves as a sheet metal shop. They would need space to store lightweight aircraft components.
Sterling Helicopter reached out to The Mezzanine Company to provide a storage solution. In order to maximize the storage space, we would need to work around a number of obstructions along two walls that the mezzanine would butt up against.
Working closely with Sterling Helicopter, we came up with a design for a 920 square foot rectangular shaped storage mezzanine that would serve their needs. For the flooring, Grey Diamond Seal Resindek would be used.
To work around several obstructions along the wall, the mezzanine had multiple cutouts (as seen in photos). The mezzanine included a straight OSHA stair, to allow for foot traffic, and also (3) 5’ lift out gates, to allow for moving materials on and off.
Once the proposal was accepted, approval drawings were generated and our project manager made a site visit to make the finishing design adjustments. Additionally, we provided PE stamped drawings, for the State of Pennsylvania, to be used for permitting purposes.
When the mezzanine production was complete, we arranged for a prompt delivery and coordinated together the best installation schedule. The mezzanine was installed by our local installation team, as planned. This included starting the installation on a Saturday in order to meet the customer’s deadline.
