In September of 2014, New Jersey contractor, Jeff Golub, highly recommended The Mezzanine Company to one of his customers at Retro Fitness in Parsippany. Golub had recently collaborated with The Mezzanine Company to complete a cardio deck at Retro Fitness in Manville, NJ and was impressed by the company's courteous service coupled with the skilled handiwork of one of their approved installation groups, Fox Steel.
After exploring prices for a conventional build out, new material was more economical and less labor intensive. A steel system was a safer and inexpensive alternative to a wall-supported conventional build-out. The Mezzanine Company was the best fit for the job. Because Retro Fitness of Parsippany had a set opening date for early December, timing was an essential factor for the successful completion of their cardio deck platform with only two months of planning.
The Mezzanine Company teamed up with Retro Fitness' Parsippany location owners, architects, and general contractor to gather the necessary specifications and expedite production time with the factory. Shortly after receiving the required information, The Mezzanine Company's project managers visited Parsippany to take field measurements and detailed notes about the desired platform to ensure accuracy. Since the building's plumbing trenches were in a different location than indicated on previous plans, the platform's column layout was adjusted to avoid interfering with underground piping.
Also, the measurements for the staircase treads were increased from 36" to 45" for more comfortable access to the platform. The platform's height was also elevated to provide more head room for a locker room below and additional duct work. After the necessary adjustments had been made, The Mezzanine Company was able to expedite the production process with the factory and installers, as well as work with the township for the approval of professional engineer stamped drawings. With same-day shipping, the (mezzanine) platform material was transported promptly and was assembled by one of The Mezzanine Company's approved local contractors. Because of strict timing, the cardio platform was installed before the building's walls were painted. To further assist Retro Fitness with their deadline,
Through close coordination with all tradesmen involved and by applying the appropriate engineered solutions, The Mezzanine Company followed through with a quick turnaround time. The 1,500 square foot cardio deck platform was ready for Retro's grand opening on December 12th, leaving the facility with a reliable product, more money for other necessary investments, and extra time to spare.
