Retro Fitness owner, Rob Jennis contacted The MezzanineCompany to assist on the construction of the latest Retro Fitness in theJacksonville area. We had previously worked on another location in the area in Jacksonville,FL. This new facility would include the many amenities that Retro Fitnessis known for, like a smoothie bar, a cardio movie theatre, tanning booths, andmuch more.

In order to provide these amenities, Retro Fitness wouldneed to maximize the space at their new location. They decided the best way todo this was to include a cardio deck in their plans for their new facility.

Some special consideration of this project would be:

• The mezzanine would need to be designed tointegrate with the existing architecture plans for the new location
• The mezzanine would be need to be designed formovement caused by exercise equipment

Working closing with the owners and architect for theproject, The Mezzanine Company provided a proposal for an approximate 900square foot custom rectangle shaped mezzanine. The mezzanine would include onestraight IBC stairs and wire mesh handrail.

Additionally, in order to the mezzanine was designed tohandle the deflection from the exercise machines.

Once the proposal was approved, we sent our localrepresentative to the new location to review the drawings and make finaladjustments.

After careful planning between all parties, the mezzaninewas delivered and installed at the new location. The installation timing wasplanned around the rest of the construction, so as to keep the project onschedule. The new cardio deck enhanced Retro Fitness’ workout experience by creatingvaluable additional space for their new exercise equipment.
