Medtronic is the world’s largest medical technology company, offering an unprecedented breadth and depth of innovative therapies to fulfill they mission of alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life. Medtronic contacted The Mezzanine Company seeking a storage solution for two compressors in their facility in Danvers, Massachusetts.
There were two main challenges we faced:
By frequently communicating with Medtronic, we were able to understand the nature of their storage dilemma and determine that a custom engineered equipment platform was the solution to their problem. We designed a roughly 110 square foot equipment platform to hold their two compressors.
We made sure this structure would be large enough to fit their needs and still fit in their space. To do this, we worked very closely with the manufacturer’s engineering department to remove some of the originally designed braces and add larger support columns. These larger support columns were able to pick up the load allowing us to keep the necessary clearance underneath the equipment platform for access.
The platform included handrail and kick-plate around the structure to keep it safe for when the compressors needed to be serviced. We also included a lift away rail section at the customers request so that they could add their own ladder to the system at a later time.
Since timing was of the essence for this project, we provided a quick quote the next day for this project, and after an order was placed, we had approval drawing to them within a week. Lastly, by taking advantage of our manufacturer's express program, we were able to cut valuable time off of the project allowing us to complete it within Medtronic’s tight time frame.
