Eastern Construction and Electric Inc. is a provider of construction, electrical and mechanical contractor services. They do a lot of work for government clients, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force, Pennsylvania Air National Guard, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Postal System.
Eastern Construction and Electric asked The Mezzanine Company to provide them with a storage solution for their facility in Wrightstown.
They had a packed warehouse that they desperately needed more storage space. They would also need access to this new area in a way that did not compromise their existing layout. Also, the system required to be engineered to fit around the building's structural columns.
We designed an L-shaped mezzanine that would be installed along two walls. To gain them the maximum possible space around the building columns, we worked with our manufacturer’s engineers to design cut outs around the columns on the wall. On the other wall, we utilized cantilever arms to work around the columns and extended the decking of the mezzanine right against the wall. This allowed us to provide them with nearly 750 additional square feet of space.
To ensure that it would be easily accessible, we included a 5’ wide lift gate that was centered with their overhead door creating a convenient transport route for bringing materials to and from their new storage area. We also included an OSHA regulation staircase in the design to allow for any foot traffic necessary.
Since production finished ahead of schedule on this project, Eastern was unable to receive the materials ahead of time. Working with the manufacturer and our shipping company, we managed to arrange for the materials to be stored for a short period and then delivered at a later time when they were ready to receive them. Once received, our installers completed the installation right on schedule.
