Costco is a worldwide warehouse club. They provide significant discounts on all types of items ranging from everyday food choices to the latest electronics. The packaging facility in Monroe contacted The Mezzanine Company to help them gain additional work and storage space in their facility.
We were tasked with providing an equipment platform capable of connecting to their existing platform with enough clearance underneath for very tall machinery. In addition, the new platform would need to be able to support four new case erectors, their operators and the materials necessary to run them.
Working closely with Costco, we provided a plan for a two-level equipment platform, with each platform connected by a short stair. This design allowed us to match up perfectly with the existing structure and create a walking bridge that connected the lower section.
To ensure that the flow of traffic to the new platform would not get bottlenecked going through the walkway, we also added an IBC “L” shaped stair with a mid landing for foot traffic. To assist with the movement of larger materials, we included a sliding gate and a special safety pivot gate.
Also, at the request of Costco, we created a special 3’x3’ hatch located above one of the taller pieces of equipment that could be used as an access point for service work on it. To make sure the floor would hold up to the constant use it would receive and support the equipment, we used diamond plate flooring to add additional strength and toughness.
Bela Kurko at Costco had this to say; “The job that was done by The Mezzanine Company was completed within the time frame that was contracted. It has always been easy to deal with the company, and we will continue to use you as a supplier. I would recommend you to others. Your company is easy to work with, and the support is fast when requested”.
