When most people think of Baltusrol, they think of the historic golf course with its clean greens, its beautiful fairways, the peaceful atmosphere and tranquil grounds. Few people, however, pause to consider what goes into keeping Baltusrol and all its grounds in that pristine condition they often remember it for. To maintain the course up to its lofty reputation, an army of vehicles and grounds crews works tirelessly, consistently adding to its ever growing fleet of tools and machines to keep the famed course the way it is. This is what led them to reach out to The Mezzanine Company in search of a way to gain more storage space for all the equipment used for the upkeep of the historic grounds.
Pleasantly, for us, Baltusrol is located only 15 minutes away from our headquarters in central New Jersey, and we were able to make several visits to them early on to survey the space and discuss the storage platform we would be designing for them.
Based on our site visits, we designed a 1,400 square foot mezzanine to store their equipment. Because one of the walls had flared columns which prevented us from running right along the wall, we adjusted the locations of our support steel to work around the columns and to gain the maximum amount of space.
The mezzanine also included a mezzanine gate which was ideally placed to align with an overhead door to create a direct aisle passage for a smooth flow when loading materials up onto the storage platform.
Once the mezzanine was manufactured, it was shipped to the golf club and installed by our team. We managed to do all this quickly with minimal disruption to the daily activities of the grounds crew allowing them to keep doing what they do so well, keep Baltusrol beautiful!
