Arlington Industries is a leading manufacturer of traditional metallic and non-metallic fittings and connectors for the electrical and communications industries while also remaining a leader in the development of unique and innovative electrical and communications products. Founded in 1949, they have since expanded their Scranton Pennsylvania facility to cover over 5 acres and are still growing.
Continued success and growth had left Arlington’s facility short on floor space. In particular, their facilities maintenance department had no room left to store all the parts and tools it needed. Arlington Industries turned to The Mezzanine Company as a means of expanding upward.
We sent our technicians out to see the area and review the initial layout Arlington had proposed. Our technicians were able to tweak this design and expanded the space gained without interfering with the existing floor layout of the factory. The result was an additional 483 square feet of storage space for their maintenance department.
To maximize the space, we utilized a special 45-degree stair. We also cantilevered a 59’ section of the platform to avoid several dangerous obstructions like multiple building columns, electrical lines and panels and an exhaust fan. This allowed us to build the platform flush against a building wall.
We enclosed the top mezzanine with handrail and kickplate to create a safe working environment on top. In addition, we supplied a 5’ double swing gate and a 4' lift out gate for moving larger materials to and from the mezzanine.
Joe Kosciuk from Arlington had this to say about our company, “We appreciated the communication and the ease of doing business with you. Also the ideas you suggested made for a better fit for our application. Someone was always available through every step of the way. You guys also watched and kept me informed when parts were to arrive. Just outstanding on your part.”
