Aleut Management Services

Aleut Management Services is “a family of companies that offers extensive product and servicecapabilities including operations, maintenance and related services,information technology and communication services, engineering services,mechanical contracting and construction, oil field services, and water testingto a range of customers and government agencies”. Back in 2014, they wereawarded a contract from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Advanced TrainingCenter (ATC) in Harpers Ferry, WV. This contract was for facility operationsand maintenance.

Recently, Aleut contacted us since they were looking to gainextra storage space in their client’s facility. Floor space was limited in twoof their buildings and it was time to take advantage of the available air spacein both buildings.

One of the main challenges of the project wouldbe that both buildings had existing columns and existing MEP systems(mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) to work around. A custom design would beneeded to work around the obstructions while still providing plenty ofclearance under the mezzanines.

Working closely with the customer, we came up with a designfor two custom storage mezzanines; one for each area. The custom design tookinto consideration all of the existing obstructions and needs in bothbuildings.

After the proposal was approved, and the approval drawingswere ready for review, one of our project managers made a site visit and madefinal adjustments to the designs. Once the mezzanine was ready for shipment, wecoordinated the installation with one of our installation teams. 

The first mezzanine was approximately 1,400 square feet,with a capacity of 250 PSF. The second mezzanine was approximately 700 squarefeet with a capacity of 150 PSF. Both mezzanines included an OSHA compliantdesigned staircase and handrail on the open sides. The handrail for themezzanines was a custom combination of yellow and gray railing

In order to accommodate the easy transfer of materials onand off the mezzanines, both included a 6’ sliding gate.
