Challenge

Protectowire, located in Pembroke, MA, is "the global leading manufacturer of Linear Heat Detection Systems".  This family run, private owned company has been doing business for 80 years!

Recently, Protectowire reached out to us since they were looking to gain extra storage space in their facility. They were out of floor space and decided to take advantage of the available air space in their warehouse.

Because the slab at the location was less than ideal, the mezzanine would need to be customized to minimize the need for footings. Additionally, since the mezzanine would be butting up against existing walls, it would need to be designed to work around several obstructions.

As always, we were ready for the challenge!

Solution

Working closely with the customer, we came up with a design for an approximately 2,600 square foot storage mezzanine. After performing a slab analysis, we realized this mezzanine would need some extra engineering to spread the load adequately and avoid multiple footings.

Working closely with the manufacturer’s engineering team, we came up with a design that would require just one footing. In order to provide complete turnkey services, we managed all of the slab and footing work for the project.

Additionally, the mezzanine was designed to match heights with an existing mezzanine deck, in order to provide a seamless flow from old to new. The color red was also chosen to match the existing branding colors of their warehouse.

Once the mezzanine was ready for shipment, we coordinated the installation with our local installation team. The mezzanine was installed as planned, and on time, with minimum interruption to operations.

What Our Customers Say...

It is always my intention to do business with companies that put customer service and satisfaction in the forefront. When we needed a mezzanine to expand storage in one of our rooms we looked for a company that we felt could fit the bill and The Mezzanine Company certainly did just that.
